Premier Indian steeplechase runner Avinash Sable will begin his 2025 outdoor season at the Xiamen Diamond League on April 26 in China.
The National Record holder finished in ninth place with a time of 8:17.09 at the Diamond League final in September, last year.
He will look to improve his National Record of 08:09.91s at the Diamond League meet. He has already qualified for the World Championships after finishing 11th in the Paris 2024.
It will be a tough field at the Xiamen Diamond League with two Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco and the Paris Olympics bronze medalist Abraham Kibiwot of Kenya in the line-up.
The 2025 Diamond League season will begin in Xiamen on April 26th and cross four continents and 13 countries before coming to an end at the series final in Zurich on August 27th-28th.
Meanwhile, in 2025, Diamond League meetings will pay out a total of 9.24 million USD in prize money, the highest total pot in the series’ history.
All prize money is entirely gender-equal, with exactly the same rates for male and female athletes in each discipline.
