The International Olympic Day 2025 was celebrated by the Army cantonment with hockey Olympian Rupinder Pal Singh joining as the chief guest.
Meanwhile, the foundation day for Olympics was celebrated by the Assam Olympic Association with the Olympic Run in Tezpur on Monday.
150 soldiers took part in a walkathon held at the Tibri military station. Rupinder Pal Singh, a part of India’s bronze medal-winning squad at Tokyo 2020, delivered a moving speech and interacted with the soldiers.
The walkathon was surprised by station commander Brig Vikramjit Singh Kochhar.
On the other hand, the Assam Olympic Association held the event in collaboration with the Sonitpur District Sports Association. It was flagged off by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) and the President of the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) Sarbananda Sonowal.
International Olympic Day marks the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on June 23, 1894 in Paris, which led to the revival of the modern Olympic Games.
