Fifth seeded Indian archers Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Rishabh Yadav beat Spain (156-149), Denmark (156-154), and Slovenia (159-155) in the Archery World Cup 2025 knockout rounds to set up a final against Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
This comes shortly after the compound mixed team event was included in the Olympic roster for the first time. The event will be competed in LA 2028.
Meanwhile, the Indian women’s archery team missed out on a possible medal in the season-opener World Cup after visa issues. “It was a sure shot medal missed,” Teja, who himself could not travel to the USA, told PTI.
He also said that the Archery Association of India had tried to overcome the issue by applying for the visa, three months earlier.
“We conducted the selection trials three months ago, and right after announcing the squad, we applied for the US visas. We were aware of the appointment backlog,” Teja said.
The visas were, finally, issued on April 8 and by the time compound event had already started.
