Surjit Hockey Academy Jalandhar and Steel Authority of India (SAIL Academy) teams will face each other for the title in the final of the 24th Olympian Mohinder Singh Munshi Hockey Tournament (Under 19 Boys) on Sunday.
The semi-finals of the tournament were held at the BSF Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
In the first semi-final, Surjit Hockey Academy Jalandhar defeated STC Kurukshetra 2-1, while in the second semi-final, Steel Authority of India (SAIL Academy) defeated Round Glass Academy Mohali 3-2.
Surjit Academy Jalandhar and STC Kurukshetra displayed their best abilities. In the 20th minute of the game, Sehajpreet Singh scored a goal for Surjit Hockey Academy to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 35th minute, Ankit from Kurukshetra restored parity for his side. However, Sehajpreet Singh from Surjit scored the winner in the 55th minute to help his side book a ticket to the final.
Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, SAIL Academy and Round Glass Academy played out an aggressive contest.
Ranjanpal Ekka from SAIL broke the deadlock in the second minute while in the 20th minute, Amandeep from Round Glass scored the equalizer.
In the 40th and 46th minutes of the game, Saliba Lisham from SAIL completed a brace to put a two-goal cushion between both sides.
In the dying minutes, Sunny from Round Glass scored to cut short the deficit. But it was not enough to book a final berth for his side.
