Adriyan Karmakar is a rising Indian rifle shooter who recently made headlines by winning a silver medal in the men’s 50m rifle prone event at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 in Suhl, Germany. His impressive score of 626.7 not only secured the silver but also set a new junior national record for India in that event .
Born on March 17, 2005, Adriyan is the son of Joydeep Karmakar, a former Olympian and Arjuna Awardee who finished fourth in the same event at the 2012 London Olympics .
Adriyan began shooting at the age of seven and competed in senior nationals by the time he was ten. His early training included “shadow shooting” due to the lack of a proper range in Kolkata, demonstrating his dedication to the sport .
Prior to his recent success, Adriyan had already made a mark by winning gold in the 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Khelo India Youth Games 2024 . He has also represented India at junior world championships, showcasing consistent performance and growth in his shooting career.
Adriyan’s journey reflects a blend of inherited talent and personal determination, positioning him as a promising athlete in Indian shooting sports.
