Ollie Morgan rocked the London Aquatics Centre on Thursday, clocking 52.12 seconds to break the men’s 100m backstroke record.

In the process, he booked a spot at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore in July.

Jonny Marshall finished at the second spot with timing of 53.21, while Matthew Ward (53.52) clinched the third podium finish.

“We sat down straight after the Games and worked out the next four years, which I haven’t done before so that was a weird conversation to have,” he said poolside. “But this year, we didn’t think the swimming would be that fast, with putting uni first, but to do 52.1 with the training that I’ve been doing, has been backing it up, and been loving it every day.”

Meanwhile, Angharad Evan secured her best timing of 2:21.86, making her the fastest swimmer in the women’s 200m breaststroke this season.
