Saurabh Chaudhary clinched the first medal for India at the ISSF World Cup 2025, Lima, Peru leg on Tuesday.
He broke a long drought of medals as his last — a gold — came in the season-opening World Cup in Cairo, three years ago.
Chaudhary finished seventh out of the eight-man selected in the men’s 10m air pistol qualification event. He was second after a series of five shots in the final, trailing China’s Xie Yu by 0.1 points.
Hu Kai, meanwhile, won his consecutive World Cup gold with a score of 246.4. The eventual silver medalist, Felipe Almeida Wu, claimed the silver with a score of 241.0
Chaudhary accumulated a score of 219.1 while Varun Tomar (198.1) was the only other Indian in the final eight.
Aakash Bhardwaj (583) finished third-highest in the qualification round but he was competing for Ranking Points Only (RPO). Meanwhile, Ravinder Singh (574) and Amit Sharma (RPO, 573), finished in the 12th and 16th place respectively.
In the women’s 10m air pistol event, Suruchi Inder Singh and Manu Bhaker claimed a 1-2 on the podium.
The 18-year-old Suruchi finished third in the qualification round with a score of 582, while Manu made it to the final eight by scoring 578.
