Cricket is at the heart of every Indian.

So much so, that in India, cricket is not less than a religion and cricketers no less than demi-god.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan witnessed a glimpse of gully cricket action in Mumbai. In a video shared by Vaughan, a number of Mumbai-based kids were captured playing under-arm cricket inside their apartment complex. A young boy was also documented getting run out in the video.

“The passion for Cricket in #Mumbai is infectious .. they will play the game anywhere and always with a smile .. #India #Mumbai,” Vaughan captioned the picture.

In the comments, some Indians posted their nostalgic moments from their gully cricket journeys.

“We play cricket on our beds also🤣🤣 Nostalgic days from hostel life where instrument box was our bat and Sharpener used to be our ball and corners of the bed were boundary,” a fan said on X.

“Cricket holds a special place in the heart of India ,That’s why VVS Laxman quoted : “Cricket is not just a sport; it’s a way of life in India.” Harsha Bhogle: “In India, cricket is not a game; it’s a religion.”,” another fan said.

“Passion for Cricket in India is at a different level. In fact, rarely any country has such passion for any sport,” a third fan said.

Vaughan is currently serving Cricbuzz, a cricket app, as an expert for the ongoing IPL 2025 season.
