Rising Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty’s dream run at the 2025 Orleans Masters came to an end in the men’s singles semi-finals against World Number 14 Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
The 2023 World Junior Championships bronze medalists struggled to maintain his composure to lose 13-21, 15-21 in 40 minutes, bringing an end to Indian campaign.
Shetty mixed his shots well to take an initial 6-3 lead. However, Chun-Yi clawed back to 7-7 before taking four consecutive points in order to take a mid-game interval.
The Chinese Taipei shuttler continued to maintain his dominance after the break as Shetty struggled to handle his opponent’s return. He, soon, clinched eight game points to seal the first game with a powerful smash.
In the second game, Chun-Yi took an initial lead but Ayush came back roaring to make it 5-5 after a series of rallies.
The Chinese Taipei shuttler regained advantage and took one point lead at the interval. He accelerated to 16-11 before taking five match point to clinch the match and enter the final.
