Haryana won the overall 23rd National Para Athletics Championship with 49 gold, 29 silver, and 25 bronze medals at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai while Tamil Nadu (17, 18, 12) and Uttar Pradesh (14, 17, 11) took the second and third spots respectively.
In the discus throw event, Services’ Pradeep Kumar clinched the gold in the F62/F64 category with a throw of 44.00m, while Rakesh (Services) dominated the F42/F43/F44 category with a throw of 49.52m.
Preethi Pal, the double Paris Paralympics medalist, and Yogesh Kathuniya, the Paralympics silver medalist in discus throw did not participate at the event.
Lt. Gen. Karanbir Singh Brar was the chief guest on the final day of the event.
