Indonesia surged to the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship 2025 title – their first since the event’s debut in eight years ago – stopping two-time winners China in the final.

Indonesia’s relatively more experienced team proved too hard for China’s youthful squad to break.

Rinov Rivaldy/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti provided the early breakthrough, winning the mixed doubles over Gao Jia Xuan/Wu Meng Ying 21-11 21-13.

Then it was a battle between the current World Junior champion Hu Zhe An and his predecessor Alwi Farhan.

The Indonesian outplayed his rival in 48 minutes, 21-15 21-13 to put his team 2-0 ahead.

However, China’s Xu Wen Jing, the women’s singles World Junior champion, came to her team’s rescue, beating Putri Kusuma Wardani in straight games.

Indonesia then turned to their men’s doubles pair of Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, who saw their team through comfortably beating Chen Xu Jun/Huang Di 21-15 21-9.

In the semifinals, Indonesia beat Thailand 3-1 while China got the better of Japan 3-2.
