India’s top-ranked men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty began the 2025 Indonesia Masters on a positive note while Srikanth Kidambi was knocked out in the men’s singles qualifiers.
The World No.9 clinched a convincing 21-16, 21-15 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Chen Zhi-Ray and Lin Yu-Chieh in a 30-minute encounter to enter the next round.
Chen Zhi-Ray and Lin Yu-Chieh led by a slender 11-10 margin in the first game but the Indian pair bounced back after the restart.
In the second game, India were in control from the onset and sealed the match with ease.
However, it was not meant to be for Kidambi, as he lost to his Indian compatriot Ayush Shetty 7-21, 15-21 in the qualifiers.
Two out of four Indian players won the qualification matches on Tuesday and will appear in the Round of 32 contest of the BWF Super 500 tournament.
