The World No.5 overpowered Denmark’s World No.44 William Kryger Boe-Christian Faust Kjaer 21-13, 23-21 in 30 minutes at the Istora Senayan Stadium in Jakarta.
The former World Champions, who reached the India Open 2025 semi-finals last week, will either face compatriots Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi or Taiwan’s Lu Ming Che-Tang Kai Wei in the next round.
Earlier, Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King stunned World No.7 Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan 21-17, 21-19 in 30 minutes to advance to the next round of the BWF World Tour Super 500 event.
The World No.20 will either face Chiang Chien Wei-Wu Hsuan Yi of Taiwan or Indonesian veteran Hendra Setiawan-Mohammad Ahsan in the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, women’s doubles pair Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing pulled off first-round upset over Taiwan’s world No. 17 Sung Shuo Yun-Yu Cien Hui 21-16, 22-20 in 44 minutes.
The World No.66 will face World No. 19 Tanisha Crasto-Ashwini Ponnappa in the second round.
The Indian pair had defeated Thailand’s Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn-Sukitta Suwachai 21-6, 21-14 in the first round.
