Olympic champion An Se-young, Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew entered the quarter-finals on Thursday while the Malaysian challenge at India Open 2025 ended with Leong Jun Hao’s exit.

Se-young clinched a convincing 21-15, 21-8 win over Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon. The South Korean will take on Jia Min Yeo in the next round.

Yew, meanwhile, prevailed 21-17, 21-15 over 2021 World Champion Naraoka Kodai. He captured six straight points in 46-minute affair to set the final-eight clash against two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen.

Jun Hao’s hopes of progressing were dashed against China’s Weng Hongyang in the second round.

His opponent took only 44 minutes to secure a 21-18, 21-12 victory, booking his spot in the quarter-finals.

“I think maybe today I wasn’t entirely comfortable with the game plan,” said Jun Hao in a post match interview with Badminton World Federation (BWF).

“Perhaps his front court play disrupted my rhythm and affected my momentum during the match,” he added.
