Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games: Hong Kong, China To Make Curling Debut

With the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games to be held next month, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China hosted the flag presentation ceremony for the Hong Kong, China delegation at Olympic House on Wednesday, January 8.

Miss Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Mr. Li Shuguang, Deputy Director General of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, officiated at the ceremony. 

Miss Law presented the HKSAR flag to Mr. ‍Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, Mr. ‍Edgar Yang, Honorary Secretary General of SF&OC, Mr. Kenneth Fok, Vice President of SF&OC and Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China delegation, and Mr. Wong Po Kee, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of SF&OC and Deputy Chef de Mission of the delegation, as well as other delegation members.

The 9th Asian Winter Games will run from February 7 to 14, 2025 with six sports, 11 disciplines and 64 events.

Hong Kong, China will send a delegation of over 100 people, the biggest-ever in history, to compete in six disciplines. This is also the first time for Hong Kong athletes to compete in curling at an international multi-sport games. 

The delegation of more than 100 comprises athletes, including 46 in ice hockey and 10 in curling, team officials, administrators and medical support.

President Timothy Fok said: “Benefiting from our country’s comprehensive winter sports facilities, and our athletes’ determination to overcome environmental challenges through rigorous training, winter sports in Hong Kong have made steady progress in recent years. 

“I look forward to witnessing our athletes perform with excellence in the ice and snow events and showcase their remarkable talents.”
