The 38th National Games 2025, currently underway in Uttarakhand, has witnessed phenomenal performances rewriting the history books.
Organised by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the multi-sport event features 35 sport, including the demo events and traditional events like mallakhamb, kalarippayattu, rafting and yogasana.
The Olympic-styled event features Paris 2024 medalists Swapnil Kusale and Sarabjot Singh, London 2012 silver medalist Vijay Kumar, and former World Champion Rudrankksh Patil.
The previous edition of the National Games, held in Goa, saw Maharashtra finish top with 22 medals, including 80 gold, 69 silver and 79 bronze. This edition has already witnessed a number of record-breaking performances.

38th National Games 2025: Meet Records Galore In Uttarakhand
Dhinidhi Desinghu
- Paris 2024 Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu finished the National Games 2025 with an astounding 11 medals, including nine golds, a silver, and a bronze in swimming.
- She won the women’s 100m freestyle event with a meet record of 57.38 seconds, bettering her own mark of 57.87 seconds.
- In the women’s 400m event, she set a new record, clocking 4:24.60 to better the previous record of 4:24.70 set by Hashika Ramachandra.
- She also rewrote the 200m freestyle (2:03.24) event national record.
Mehak Sharma
- National weightlifter Mehak Sharma set a new record in the women’s +87kg category across snatch and clean-and-jerk.
- She lifted 244kg (104 snatch+140kg clean and jerk) and a total (244kg).
Bindyarani Devi
- Manipuri weightlifter Bindyarani Devi set a National Record in the snatch segment.
- She broke Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu’s National Record to lift 88kg in her final attempt.

Sawan Barwal
- Himachal Pradesh’s Sawan Barwal improved Gulveer Singh’s National Games record, clocking 28:49.93 in the 10,000m event.
Jyothi Yarraji
- Jyothi Yarraji clocked 13.10 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles to clinch a third straight gold medal by smashing her own previous meet record.
Tejas Shirse
- Maharashtra’s Tejas Shirse set a new meet record in the men’s 110m event by clocking 13.65 seconds.
Records In Race Walking
- 20km race walk: Servin Sebastian (SSCB) 1:21:23 (National Games record, Previous record of 1:23:26 was clocked by Gurmeet Singh in 2011)
- 10km race walk: Ravina (Haryana) 45: 52.00 (National Games record. Previous record of 51:56.00 was set by Bala Devi of Manipur in 1999)
- 800m: Chanda KM (Delhi) 2:00.82 (Improved her own National Games record of 2:01.58 set in 2022)
