Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei and  Leong Jun Hao broke their first round drought in the 2025 Swiss Open at the St Jakobshalle Arena in Basel on Wednesday.

The World No.47 beat Taiwan’s world No. 35 Pai Yu Po 21-18, 21-12 in 34 minutes in the first round. This was the first time Jin Wei advanced to the second round in her eighth attempt after last year’s Malaysia Masters.

She will face the winner of Bulgaria’s world No. 65 Kaloyana Nalbantova or Thailand’s world No. 8 Supanida Katethong in the next round.

Meanwhile, men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao also broke his drought in the fifth attempt after overcoming Japan’s world No. 45 Koo Takahashi, 21-19, 22-20 in 54 minutes.

He will face a tough contest against Japan’s  World No. 13 Kenta Nishimoto in the next round.
