Six athletics gold medallists from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are among the nominees for the Laureus World Sports Awards.

The ceremony, set for 21 April, will once again be held in Madrid. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the prestigious awards.

Sifan Hassan, Faith Kipyegon and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone have been nominated for the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award, an official World Athletics release said.

Hassan claimed Olympic marathon gold in Paris after earning bronze in the 5000m and 10,000m.

Kipyegon became the only three-time Olympic 1500m champion and added silver in the 5000m.

McLaughlin-Levrone’s world-record breaking run to gold in the 400m hurdles was followed up with gold in the 4x400m.

Mondo Duplantis, who won a second Olympic pole vault gold and raised his own world record a further two times, is nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award.

Olympic sprint champions Julien Alfred and Letsile Tebogo are nominated for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award.

Alfred won a first-ever Olympic gold for St Lucia, while Botswana celebrated its first Olympic gold thanks to Tebogo’s win in the men’s 200m.
