The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is the governing body for athletics in India, affiliated
with World Athletics, the Asian Athletics Association, the South Asian Athletics Association,
and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (GOI).

The AFI selects athletes for international competitions, including the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, South Asian Games, and other events under World Athletics, the Asian Athletics Association, and the South Asian Athletics Federation.

To participate in the Asian Championships, scheduled from May 27 to 31, 2025, in Gumi, South Korea, athletes must adhere to specific qualification guidelines outlined by the AFI after due diligence, an official AFI qualification guidelines said.

The National Federation Athletics competition (Senior) shall be the only selection trial for
selecting athletes for the Asian Athletics Championships, except for athletes permitted by the
AFI. The AFI reserves the right to grant exemptions to outstanding athletes who are not
unavailable for this competition.

To achieve qualification for participating in the National Federation Athletics Competition
(Senior), it is mandatory to participate in at least one regional competition or Indian Grand
Prix.

The qualification standard for the National Federation Senior Athletics competition will
be published on the AFI website.

Athletes selected for the National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) at LNCPE Trivandrum for the
4x400m relay (Men, Women, and Mixed) will undergo training under foreign experts,
monitored directly by the AFI.

Only these athletes will be considered for the 4x400m relay team selection. If an athlete not training at NCOE Trivandrum qualifies individually in the 400m events, they will be eligible to participate in the individual event, not in the relay.

The selection committee shall have the final authority in selecting the team for the Asian
Championships, including rejecting entries with proper justification, to ensure that only the
most deserving athletes represent the nation.

The AFI strictly follows a “No Needle Policy.” All athletes must comply with this policy, which
is available on the AFI official website.

The entry standards for the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships are outlined in Annexure I.
