Injury-hit Aaron Chia has been cleared to join his Malaysian men’s doubles partner Soh Wooi Yik for the prestigious 2025 All England Open Badminton Championships, starting from Tuesday.
Chia’s shoulder injury aggravated during the 2025 Orleans Masters, last week where the pair lost to young Chinese pair Sun Wen Jun-Zhu Yi Jun in the first round.
This injury had casted doubt on World No.5 Aaron-Wooi Yik’s participation at the 2025 All England Open Badminton Championships where they finished as runners-up twice, including last season.
“Aaron-Wooi Yik will play at the All England based on the information I received last night (Sunday),” said coach Herry Iman Pierngadi who could not travel to England due to visa issues.
“They started court training two days ago.”
Aaron-Wooi Yik will face a tough challenge against Denmark’s world No. 14 Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Sogaard. The Malaysian had beaten the Danish pair at the 2024 Malaysian Open.
“I believe Aaron-Wooi Yik can beat the Danish pair based on their experience. I am not setting any lofty targets for them… let them complete their opening match first,” added Herry.
Meanwhile, Cheng Su Yin, has been cleared to play after she injured herself by slipping on the staircase on Thursday.
She suffered an ankle injury during the 2025 Orleans Masters.
“Su Yin is ready to play in the All England and she has also started training,” said Rexy Mainaky said.
National coaching director Rexy Mainaky said Su Yin will be making their debut in the prestigious event.
