The ongoing German Open 2025 will be a dress rehearsal for Malaysian players ahead of the all-important 2025 All England Open Badminton Championships, slated to run from March 11 to 16 at the  Utilita Arena Birmingham.

Malaysia men’s doubles coach Herry IP has already warned his players of the South Korean danger, Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae, looming large.

He said not to pay attention to their misleading World No.80 ranking. Won Ho-Seo Seung are the result of the reshuffling that took place in November. They won the Malaysian Open and finished as runners-up at the India Open.

“Won Ho-Seung Jae are one of the best pairs in the world and we have to take them seriously. They are going to be a threat in the All England for sure,” said Herry.

“They have just beaten Arif-Roy King again (second meeting) while Aaron-Wooi Yik also lost to them.

“We need to do more video analysis and come up with tactics and an effective game plan to counter them.”

The South Korean duo rely on counter-attacking style. Earlier, Won Ho clinched the Paris 2024 silver medal with Jeong Na Eun, and Seung Jae won the men’s doubles world title with Kang Min Hyuk.

The pair also defeated World No. 19 Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King in the German Open quarter-finals.

The South Koreans, meanwhile, defeated World No. 5 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the India Open semi-finals, but lost to World No. 2 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in the final.
