Youth Olympics gold medallist Manu Bhaker made the country proud on Sunday as she clinched a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event at the Paris 2024.

By the virtue of her podium finish, the Haryana-shooter became the first Indian woman to clinch a medal in shooting and the fifth overall to bag a medal in the discipline after Abhinav Bindra, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Vijay Kumar and Gagan Narang.

Bhaker, 22, displayed her consistency at the event as she maintained her top three spot in throughout the eight-woman final. Meanwhile, Korea’s Oh Ye Jin clinched the gold with a record total of 242.3 and her compatriot clinched a silver with the total of 241.3.

“Winning this medal is a dream come true, not just for me but for everyone who has supported me. I am deeply grateful to the NRAI, SAI, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Coach Jaspal Rana sir, Haryana government and OGQ. I dedicate this victory to my country for their incredible support and love,” Bhaker said on X.

Meanwhile, the entire nation, including Bollywood superstars, sports personalities, and politicians reacted on her success at the Paris Games.
