Indian shooter Anish Bhanwala clinched the bronze medal in the Men’s 25m rapid fire pistol discipline at the ISSF World Cup Final 2023 in Doha, Qatar on Friday. It was the first-ever medal for India in the Men’s 25m rapid fire pistol in the ISSF World Cup Final history.

The Commonwealth Games gold medallist scored 27 out of 35 points in the final at the Lusail Shooting Range. World Championship bronze medallist Florain Peter hit 35 out of 40 to beat reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist Li Yuehong for the gold.

Bhanwala matched the pace of his counter-parts by hitting two fives for his third and fourth series to go with three series of four hits but fell short of the silver. Meanwhile, Peter shot four perfect fives to start and then had another five in the seven series, which was enough for the top podium spot.

Yuehong, on the other hand, had four perfect series of five hits and a couple of fours, ensuring him a silver after his score of two in the seventh series.
