India’s top seeded men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the semi-finals of the China Masters 2023 in Shenzhen, China on Friday. Chirag and Satwiksairaj defeated the Indonesian pair of Leo Rolly Carnando and Danierl Marthin 21-16, 21-14 in straight games to enter the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, eighth seeded Indian shuttler HS Prannoy lost 9-21, 14-21 against third seed Kodai Naraoka in the men’s singles quarter-finals. India’s hope of a podium finish in the China Masters 2023 rests on the men’s doubles pair of Chirag and Satwik after the ouster of Prannoy.
In the women’s doubles, the pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda exited early after their loss to the Chinese duo Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu. There in no pair representing India in the mixed doubles category.
